It is from xorg-clients package. It uses pkgsrc's CONF_FILES for custom 
config file locations. The example configs under 
/usr/pkg/share/examples/xorg/xdm/. And the real configurations under 
default /usr/pkg/etc/xorg/xdm/.

The file I modified was ..../xorg/xdm/Xservers.

I also have /etc/rc.d/xdm that has the command set to my xorg's xdm.
