I've completed these two task in the meantime. The native build now
works under NetBSD-i386 3.99.1 and the set lists in "src/distrib/sets"
have been updated.

The binaries resulting from the above build work fine on my NetBSD-i386
3.99.1 system (Pentium IV under 3.99.1 with an ATI Radeon 9800).

Further feedback (success reports, problems, patches etc.) would be
very useful.
