Subject: XF 4.1.0 xdm/kdm hangs machine on signal

Hi Folks,
I've pulled down the XF4.1.0 binaries for NetBSD 1.5.1 and installed
them on a freshly installed machine (see below). I needed some form of XF4
because I have a Nvida GeForce2 MX card.

I am experiencing machine hangs correlated with xdm/kdm/Xserver. They come in
a couple of flavors:

1) I have the rc system start xdm at boot time, I use X, then I go
to a wscons and try to reboot/halt (or try from the kdm menu) the machine
hangs. I could see that the shutdown user was being written to lastlog,
so I tried "halt -n" and that worked, but naturally, I would prefer something
cleaner.  This would implicate sync()?

2) If I start xdm or kdm from a wscons (not via the rc system) after having used X,
when I try to kill xdm (simply kill <pid>) the machine will hang.

All other operations in X are fine. (I've was using it most of the day until I
discovered this behaviour)

apm is disabled in the kernel.

(I realize it may not be xdm itself, but instead the X server, but I thought
it best to describe it as I can observe it).

I can provide XF86Config, Xfree86 logfile, but so far nothing tricky or suspicious.

Has anyone else seen this with the XF4.1.0 for 1.5.1. Any suggestions on how
I should debug or work around this?

	Thanks.

	- Scott
