Use the "/dev/wsmouse" device and "wsmouse" protocol if you have a
kernel with wsmouse support. 

You can also remove wsmouse support from your kernel, add the
opms driver instead and continue using /dev/pms0 and BusMouse th
XFree86. But wsmouse is better IMHO.
