There doesn't have to be any kind of hardwired defaults, the "5m" was
just an example - the easy way to do this would be via a command line
option to set the maximum time jump (sanity checked to be > 1 second...)
before cron just gives up, and pretends that the time during the jump
didn't exist.

I'm just not sure I can see anything to be gained by any more flexibility
than that.
