Really?  The `rc' executable I built under NetBSD 0.8 still works
today under 1.5.2.  We have ABI compatibility going back 8.5 years.

I think it's *you* who is living an illusion -- assuming that programs
must break periodically simply because other OS developers have been
very sloppy about it in the past.
