Sorry, I may have used incorrect language.  What I meant to say was
that I had no first-hand experience confirming both of the points,
namely debugging and profiling.  Just to make that clear.

No, that's correct use of "hearsay".  I suspect gwoods misread it as
"heresy" and responded on that basis (runner-up theory, that he was
saying "it's not just hearsay now, because I have personal experience
to cite").  Greg?

I don't think it was fair to call the first claim hearsay, and I certainly hope it wasn't meant to call it heresy either.

Even if one is not fully aware of the problem set, it should still be clear from a simple line count of the source code involved in managing dynamic-linked binaries in the debugger, or for that matter a line count of the code in the runtime link-loader, that it is in fact "*way* more easy" to debug static-linked binaries.
