No, I didn't miss this. But it was simpler in my particular case (IRIX).
I wanted to mention that it is possible to increase the max. command
line length and how, so that other people with this problem get an
immediate solution. Sure, this is curing the symptoms, not the disease.
I am no toolchain medicine man, so I have to leave the right fix for the
toolchain gurus.
