Why not:

 	usr/lib/libz.so		-> ../../lib/libz.so
 	usr/lib/libz.so.0	-> libz.so
 	usr/lib/libz.so.0.3	-> libz.so

or

 	usr/lib/libz.so		-> libz.so.0.3
 	usr/lib/libz.so.0	-> libz.so.0.3
 	usr/lib/libz.so.0.3	-> ../../lib/libz.so.0.3

as we have right now? Yes, one more level of indirection - but it keeps
working, and rebuilding/relinking fixes this.
