Where is HAVE_GCC29 supposed to be set, out of curiosity?
hmm.. this sounds like your compiler is broken some how. what does
"c++ --version" print? HAVE_GCC29 is set with != that command....
A number of the HAVE_GCC29 comparisons are bogus.
