Past experience for us was that bfd doesn't change in incompatible ways very
often.  Other than introducing another new function at the end of the ops
structure, which a simple recompile and major number bump would solve, this
should be ~fine in the general case.

Personally, I am willing to take that risk, given that shared tree builds
like this are [verified to be] still practiced at cygnus/redhat.
