I'm just wondering...

bsd.sys.mk defines $STRIPPROG, but some Makefiles
(sys/arch/*/conf/Makefile.* etc.) use $STRIP.

Some Makefiles (fdisk/mbr, binutils/strip etc.) use $STRIPPROG.

$STRIP is not defined in bsd.*.mk.

Which should be defined?
