Ho hum. I rebuilt a stage1 egcs (with the stage0 egcs which i'd
compiled with 2.7.2.2+myc1).  Now that exhibits the same symptoms
Castor Fu described.  

Ghastly.

I'm rebuilding stage0 egcs libcc1.so and cc1 with 2.7.2.2, just to be
absolutely sure. (with my luck it'll be the libcc1.so from Sep 29
which makes the difference :-<).
