I have checked in the changes needed to use gas 2.8.1 for sparc and i386,
although they need more testing before they will be enabled (but I have
been using them for some time now, so I don't expect much trouble.)

Before testing the new gas, make sure your libbfd is up to date.

If you examine the source, you will notice that some of my changes are
slightly too magic and/or ugly. I will fix it sometime next week.
