There were mentioned examples:

        calibrated loops

        instructions based on CPU type.  Think rc5 cracking for a good
        example -- they try to squeeze every last cycle out.  There
        are likely applications that are more critical that will just
        do bad things.

I, for one, would rather have mainstream support of common hardware
and functionality than a oddball hardware case.  I'd like ACPI support
far more than running two different CPUs on a machine where I can
easily afford uniform CPUs.

That said, if you want to write the code and support it and maintain
it, feel free to volunteer to do so.  That's another thing about
volunteer groups -- you have some ability to see what you like in the
mix.
