Possibly. The Windows client used to be loopback SMB, but I don't
think it suppoted PAGs. Arla has the protocol stuff in userspace, with
"loopback filesystem" in the kernel. Much like Coda.

I think the credentials needs to be cached by whatever talks to the
fileserver, or else you're likely to get poor performance.
