Twice now I seem to have seem files mtimes updated unexpectedly.
That is to say, as an ordinary user I was browsing files owned by root
using emacs. Then I notice the files unexpectedly have had their mtime
updated. I can't duplicate this so I could have been imagining it, but now it
has happened twice, I don't think so. Has anyone else seen this?

BTW, there wer no emacs backup files created or anything so even if I was
running emacs as root, the behaviour is quite unexpected.
