prefailed:
(a) The package could not be scanned correctly due to a
parse error etc.
(b) The package has an explicit BROKEN or matching ONLY_FOR_PLATFORM
etc. line.

indirect-prefailed:
The package depends on something that is prefailed or itself
indirect-prefailed.

indirect-failed:
The package depends on a package that did not build.
