I'm using a binary package I downloaded from mozilla.org website. I have not
found a way to solve the above mentioned problem. I though it was caused by
some of the patches present in www/firefox/patches, so I rebuilt firefox
without any of the patches applied, still SSL did not work :-( I sent an email
to firefox mailing list, hoping someone would recognise the problem, but got no
replies. I'm still not sure why or how SSL is broken.

Yeah I've had this. Did you search netbsd GNATS database? I submitted a PR a
long time ago describing a fix to this and other problems with Firefox, but the
PR is still open!! There doesn't seem to be much interest in it :-/ Here is a
