Hi pkg crowd,
here comes a new version of pkg_select, a curses package management
interface i've written during this year.
Among some fixes comes a new feature requested by some of you during the
past months: the possibility to manage packages with a simple
local direcory full of binary packages, i.e. without any previous pkgsrc
hierarchy installed. This extension comes with the possibility to install
base system archives (base.tgz, comp.tgz...) using the same mechanism,
just put the base sets in the packages directory and a new "system"
category will show up in the classic pkgsrc categories.
Explaination of this feature use is added to manpage, but feel free to ask
me for more informations.
As the software is getting bigger , i'd really need tests and feedback to
improve its quality.
You'll find this new dev release at
http://imil.net/NetBSD/pkg_select-20051204.tar.gz
I won't push a PR to update pkgsrc right now as some aspects may vary
depending on grownups thoughts ;)
Regards
