I just bootstrapped on Mac OS 10.4.2, which ships with gcc-4.0.0, and
I did not see any problems. May things are different with 4.0.2.

Speaking of bootstrapping, so far I did not experience any issues by
not using a case-sensitive file system nor by installing as non-root.
Just completed building lynx as an example.

Is building as non-root now "officially" supported out of the box, i.e. without
any additional tweaking in mk.conf?
