I can't set it, I don't remenber why???
I set this in the past :
PREFER_NATIVE= yes

here is what I use now in mk.conf:
IS_BUILTIN.fixesext= yes
PREFER.fixesext= pkgsrc
USE_BUILTIN.fixesext= no
and works fine
