I looked at xcdplayer when I wanted a simple GUI for playing CD's. It
uses the Athena (Xaw) widget set and a fair bit of raw Xlib from what I
remember, and looks awful in the default configuration. With a
considerable amount of resource tweaking, it can be made to look OK, but
I decided it wasn't worth the bother. Xmcd provides a good alternative,
or if you don't want to install Motif, I wrote a replacement for
xcdplayer that only uses the libraries in a default NetBSD install:
