I am having trouble building any of the sun java packages.  I
routinely get "permission denied" errors when the distfiles are
extracted.  It appears that they are being executed in order to
self-extract themselves.  The permissions are all 755, which I thought
would be sufficient for this.

Any help on how to address this problem is welcome.
