Also, using the stable pkgsrc can save time when doing updates because
often security fixes are done by patching the old version instead of
directly moving to the latest and greatest.
For example, the stable pkgsrc has a fixed tiff but it is still the old
version so you don't need to rebuild any dependencies needing tiff. But if
you use the current pkgsrc, updating tiff could require rebuilding many
packages depending on it.
