I have, about 4 times! and re-installed glib2, which has the library which
it claims isn't installed in its chain.
I am suspecting that forcing the glib2 install has broken a chain of
dependencies which lies deeper in. But this one application run from
inside the gtk2 make sequence appears to be its own embedded gtk/ subdir
