scripts/makefile.netbsd
says
LIB= png
SHLIB_MAJOR= 3
SHLIB_MINOR= 1.2.7
giving you libpng.so.3.1.2.7
but I don't think it really matters as libpng.so.3 -> libpng.so.3.1.2.7
or whatever...
