I see fonts are getting installed to ${PREFIX}/lib/X11/fonts.

Would it be better if this was ${PREFIX}/share/fonts ??

share/fonts is the example as found in recent fontconfig and Xft
documentation.

And other packaging systems use ${PREFIX}/share/fonts also.
