One idea maybe would be to patch xsrc to add the
/usr/pkg/lib/X11/app-defaults (or maybe /usr/pkg/etc/X11/app-defaults too)
to the XFileSearchPathDefault (and/or maybe XAppLoadDir,
XFileSearchPathBase, and ProjectRoot) settings in the
xc/config/cf/site.def.

This also could be done for the x11/XFree86-libs package.

(This is similar to use providing a default path for /usr/pkg/man man
pages too for man.)
