yes, I think this is the cleanest solution. I can also provide the man
page for ld, which contains information e.g. on rpath.
A few questions come to my mind:
what should this compiler environment be called?
what file would have to be rewritten and adapted?
It would be great to have "official" IRIX 5.3 support in pkgsrc.
