The latter. We've tried allowing random stuff from outside pkgsrc, but
that only results in trouble. We do not know what perl version you have
installed, we don't know what modules are there, we know nothing.
This just calls for trouble in the long run.

I guess you'll hit too many problems in between "all your system" and "all
pkgsrc-based".
