Note, I'm not highly clueful in the ways of pkgsrc so it's possible
that what I'm about to say is pretty stupid..

I recently gotta Mac with OSX and wanted to build some stuff. Figured
pkgsrc was the way to do it. So I downloaded the bootstrap-pkgsrc
for Darwin thing and proceeded to untar it in my / as it seemed the
right thing to do (after first confirming there were no filename
clashes)..

Well, surprisingly, untarring it completely trashed my filesystem and
I had to reinstall OSX. Apparently one isn't supposed to use 'tar'
or 'pax' on a native OSX filesystem... After the untar operation, all
of /etc was empty except for 'mk.conf', same with '/var' and '/usr'.

So maybe there should be some obvious warning somewhere.. Or maybe
there was and I didn't see it...

Thankfully one can reinstall OSX fairly painlessly and not lose any
of your customizations.
