My point was that they should all follow a defined standard, whether or
not they use config.sub.  I don't particularly like the above, and it
means more exotic ways of handling PLIST have to be invented.

It's a lot of work though, and doesn't give us any newer or updated
packages, and probably only satisfies my perfectionist nature :-)
