Strange, I don't see this on a 1.6_ALPHA/i386 system. What does

	nm /usr/pkg/lib/libc-client.so.4.1 | grep _proto

say? Can you 'cvs update' your pkgsrc, rebuild the pkg, and see if the
problem persists?
