Hi,
I have made a few packages available which should help people to use the
NetBSD packages collection (pkgsrc) on Solaris.
Those packages are intended to allow one to start using pkgsrc on a otherwise
fresh Solaris 8 sparc machine. They provide the minimum required
tools to install further software from pkgsrc. Their prefix/basedir is
/usr/pkg.
Below is the list of these packages, their URL and a short description.
Located in ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/misc/seb you will find:
TNFzoul-20010704-01-sol8-sparc.gz
This is a Solaris package for Zoularis version 20010704. It installs itself
in /usr/pkg/bsd path. One installs it - after uncompressing it with Solaris'
/usr/bin/gunzip - with Solaris' /usr/sbin/pkgadd command.
solaris8-sparc-packages/gtexinfo-4.0.tgz
This is GNU texinfo 4.0 package in pkg_* format. It is a prerequisite
for the following packages. To be installed with /usr/pkg/bsd/bin/pkg_add.
solaris8-sparc-packages/gcc-2.95.3.tgz
This is GNU gcc 2.95.3 package in pkg_* format.
To be installed with /usr/pkg/bsd/bin/pkg_add.
solaris8-sparc-packages/cvs-1.11nb2.tgz
This is CVS 1.11 package in pkg_* format. It would allow you to grab
latest pkgsrc sources from say anoncvs.netbsd.org.
To be installed with /usr/pkg/bsd/bin/pkg_add.
solaris8-sparc-packages-svr4/TNF{gtexin-4.0,gcc-2.95.3,cvs-1.11nb2}-sol8-sparc.gz
Those are the same package as the previous three but in Solaris format.
They can be installed - after uncompressing them with Solaris'
/usr/bin/gunzip - with Solaris' /usr/sbin/pkgadd if you find this more
convenient.
Note:
An outstanding little quirk in pkg_* commands would require you
to explicitly specify the PKG_TMPDIR in the environment while running the
pkg_add command. Example for /bin/sh :
PKG_TMPDIR=/tmp /usr/pkg/bsd/bin/pkg_add gcc-2.95.3.tgz
Enjoy, Stoned.
