I was trying to build wget, which requires gmake, and it seems some of the
configure tests fail if they believe you to be crosscompiling. Make's
configure says:
checking whether setvbuf arguments are reversed... configure: error: can
not run test program while cross compiling
*** Error code 1
Stop.
*** Error code 1
Stop.
*** Error code 1
Stop.
This is an AlphaServer 300 4/266 with a stock kernel and userland
installed from the Wasabi 1.5 CD's.
Compiling it straight from the source works fine.
Here's make's config.log from gmake-3.79.1 in /usr/pkgsrc/devel/gmake:
This file contains any messages produced by compilers while
running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes a mistake.
Thanks again,
-Shawn
