Ah, I see. Yes, I absolutely agree with you here, 
IMHO it would be a good idea to change 

a) to the new layout, and
b) to another checksum hash algorithm, as described in
   PR #11809 (http://www.NetBSD.org/cgi-bin/query-pr-single.pl?number=11809)

in one turn.
