Hi there,

I'm new to netbsd and still learning the ropes so I hope
you'll bear with me please.

I need the distfiles collection of package sources, (this
is because the binary package I want is broken so
please don't suggest I try the binary package, ta:)) so
that I can build the binaries I want. I want a copy of the
distfiles on disk or cdrom so that fetching from the internet
can be kept to a minimum. See it's for my home machine
and the net connection from there is only 28.8.

So here at work I am doing an mget in ftp to download all
the distfiles onto a spare disk and I'll then take this home.
This is fine but then I discovered that there exists many sub
directories in the distfiles directory! unfortunately the ftp
program does not support getting subdirectories. So this is
inadequate.

I have been searching the netbsd site but I can't find either
of :

1. a tar balled distfile directory tree that I can down load
using ftp.

2. cdrom iso images of the distfiles tree so I can burn a cd
with them on.

3. cdrom's of the distfiles tree that you can purchase.

How can a home user with a tiny pipe internet connection
ever hope to get the distfile collection?

Can anyone direct me to a source for 1,2 or 3 above?

Is there an ftp client program in existence that will ftp
subdirectories that I can be pointed to?

Am I doing this all wrong and there is another way?

Any help much appreciated,
thankyou,

Paul.
