in case anyone really cares, I have put up a slightly revised patch for
the handling of wildcard dependencies via FTP, it's available from:

Changes:
 * More info if retrieving of a file via FTP fails
 * Remove temp dirs for failed installs (of depending pkgs, mostly)
 * Properly keep track of cwd, even in case of errors
