Many thanks for the info. I found that "--without-cxx" was defined in
the pkgsrc Makefile for the ncurses package. After removal of this
argument and a rebuild of ncurses, all packages which had previously
failed will compile cleanly, including dialog, vim, psk31... etc.
Is there a particular reason for having this definition there?
