Changes to the Packages Collection in January 1999
==================================================

The month of January saw Hubert's modifications to use a single
database of files, and also saw some interesting additions to the
collection, notably: Christoph's complete repository of Go games,
global, gnucash, openldap, p2c, pload, xglobe, and the
cross-compilation environments.  Notable updates include: ImageMagick,
XF86Setup, ddd, Thorsten's untiring updates to fetchmail, glib/gtk,
gnome, guavac, lesstif, pilot-link, postgresql, samba, skill and
squid-current. I must also thank David Brownlee for providing me
with a Perl script to help produce this summary. As always, the

Modifications to the Packages Collection itself
===============================================

	Added code to pkg_add and pkg_create to maintain a database
		(``pkgdb'') with mappings of which file belongs to
		which pkg, and enable pkg_info to query it with
		the -F switch (which tells it to expect a filename
		instead of a package name). A pkg_admin utility was
		added to (re)build the pkgdb from scratch - for 
		migrating from old non-pkgdb-pkg_* tools.
