Indeed.  That's one of the reasons why I have a major problem with the
"A" proposal -- I don't want packages to use absolute paths,
particularly not for /etc and /var.

Besides, it's *sooo* trivial to make it *appear* that pkg files are
installed in /etc and /var by simply creating the appropriate links
before packages are installed.
