Just FYI: the guy was linux wheenie - the machine was a sparc w/ NetBSD...
It's *our* system that's broken right now.

At least that's what I keep on telling people.

That's right, but there are no solutions so far that will fit anyone, and
"sophisticated" users can do things on their own better than any newbie
can, so it's the latter one whom I want to support in the first place.
