Universal routine for incremental checksum calculation ?

Hi,

I'd like to ask you, if there is any 'universal' routine for
incremental checksum calculations ? by 'universal', I mean that it is 
valid and preferred to be used ? In ip_flow.c this calculation is made
'by hand', and I wonder if there is something more universal. Thanks in 
advance for your kind help.
