only microsoft's current implementation, and mainly because of the
lanman password thing. full details of their shortcomings can be

as bad as they might be at things like this, the protocol in and of
itself does imply that someone is thinking about a generic, software
based vpn idea. and since it's effectively impossible to do something
like an ssh encapsulated ppp connection with windows, windows users
donm't have much choice.
