Please be more specific.

Most important:

- does ping to your next-hop host work, if you use the numerical address?

and

- how do your local problems with telnet come in? Do they start when
the named stops working?

and

- did you send the dump signals to the named, and check what was in
its cache? (read man page for details, I don't know by heart)
