No, not quite. gated listens for redirects not so it can do basic
redirect handling, but rather so it can _de_install any that it doesn't
want installed, because it knows the kernel will always install the
route implied by the redirect. In particular, I think gated wants to
time out redirect-generated routes, which the kernel by default doesn't
do IIRC.
