Another test, outputing "hello world!\r\nxx" (two x) and then
"HELLO WORLD!\r\nX" (one X)
The display is (mind the leading space)
ELLO WORLD!
Xx
It seems to be a terminal configuration problem: the only explanation
I can think of is that it goes home on each output. The leading space
is probably caused by later console output.
