You cannot, it doesn't exist.

Can?  Yes.  Will?  No.

birthtime is a waste of space, it's not standard, not portable (not even
within NetBSD, UVS2 supports it, UFS1 does not) and useless.

Simply forget that it exists (that is, when it exists).
