I just purchased SAS tape drivers and a LSI SAS 9211-4i PCI board. I
have not ran backup on it yet, but NetBSD 6.0 just sees the st device 
without any configuration. I just tried mt offline with success :-)

In BIOS initialization the LSI firmware just notees there are non disk 
device and it treats them as pass through.
